Bill Phipps, Earth Urbanist
The Very Reverend Dr. Bill Phipps is an outspoken activist in Calgary and throughout Canada. He is in demand as a speaker, workshop leader and writer. These days you may find Bill preaching in Mississauga, attending the Circle Water Circle in Peterborough, the Healing Water Walk in Fort McMurray, attending a meeting in Toronto, presenting at the Truth and Reconciliation hearings in Edmonton, or attending a book launch in Yellowknife... all accessible by road. (See Bill's Good Friday Blog 2014.)
Bill has worked as a poverty lawyer, adult educator and is a minister in The United Church of Canada. He served as Moderator (spiritual leader) of the church from 1997 to 2000. He has received honours in the form of awards, medals and honourary doctorates for his leadership, but his favourite honour is being called Grandpa by Michael, Kate, Tristan and Foster.
Bill is the co-founder of Faith and the Common Good, a national interfaith network of people taking action on Climate Change.
